Agenda:

10:15AM-10:45AM
OPC UA: The Infrastructure Solution for Industrial Internet of Things
Thomas Burke / Strategic Marketing Officer / OPC Foundation
Overwhelmed with the multitude of technical innovations, standard organizations, and all these things related to big data, the cloud, edge computing, and the ever popular industrial Internet of things? Want to know what you need to know about Industry 4.0 and all the regional equivalents? The OPC Foundation is actively addressing key technology innovations inclusive of TSN, 5G, AMQP, MQTT to provide a complete infrastructure platform that has timeless durability!

10:55AM-11:25AM
Digi-Pas. More information coming soon!

11:35AM-12:05PM
IoT and Sensors
Jamie Fidler / Key Account Manager / Rutronik
A brief overview of IoT and why sensors are a key part of the IoT signal chain. The additional revenue streams / disruptive technologies that are now available within the IoT market that can move business in other directions and why sensing real world parameters is once again key to this. The sensors that have evolved or that have been produced within this market, why now and why Rutronik are the distributor to support these developments.

12:15PM-12:45PM
IoT Projects Demystified – What You Need to Know for a Successful IoT Project!
Florian Schwingenschloegl / Managing Partner USA – ROBIOTIC / Hoffmann + Krippner
The number of IoT applications and projects reach an all-time high. More and more companies attempt to navigate the IoT journey of hardware, software and service challenges, potentially revolutionizing an entire industry. In this session, we will cover the technological options you need to be aware of before kicking-off your project, the “DOs and DON’Ts” along the way and guidelines to reviewing your results for your IoT solution to remain state-of-the-art.

12:55PM-1:25PM
Pressure vs. Flow Sensor - Deep Dive on Application Considerations
Ian Bentley / Engineering Fellow / Honeywell Sensing & IoT
Richard Wade / Pressure Engineer / Honeywell Sensing & IoT
Do you use an airflow or differential pressure sensor? Pressure and mass airflow sensors can be used in a similar manner to measure airflow, but they have different strengths and failure modes. As an engineer working on the next major project, you need to look at solutions that will give you the best performance and design flexibility. Sensor applications could have many different solutions to the same problem. This session will review guidelines on selecting the right sensor and specific applications for Medical, HVAC and the Appliance industries while exploring the tough questions and options available for engineers.

1:35PM-2:05PM
The Role of Sensors in Industry 4.0
John Tuley / IoT Business Development, TE Sensor Solutions / TE Connectivity
Sensors create an opportunity to read measurement properties to predict failure, monitor levels, and increase efficiencies to create a smart factory. Accurate measurements in harsh environments and conditions expand the reach of sensors to various types of equipment and processes. From miniaturized sensors with multiple digital output signals to wireless sensor technologies, there are many important factors to consider when designing sensors for IIoT applications.

2:15PM-2:45PM
Organic Nanofiber Sensors for Trace Detection of Vapor-Phase Target Chemicals
Benjamin Bunes / Director of Research and Development / Vaporsens
Accurate detection of chemicals is critical to ensure health and safety. Vaporsens is developing a novel sensor technology based on organic nanofibers capable of delivering selective, trace (sub-ppb) detection of vapor-phase chemicals, such as explosives, air pollutants, narcotics, etc. An overview of the science behind these nanofiber-based chemical sensors, along with applications such as outdoor air quality monitoring, food spoilage sensing, personnel protection, and product quality control will be presented.

2:50PM-3:20PM
7 Disruptive Companies - How They are Using Sensors to Disrupt?
Walt Maclay / President / Voler Systems
Let’s talk about disruption! Who are those innovation companies that are disrupting old industries and creating new ones? Walt Maclay will talk about 7 companies that have found niche markets that are ripe for disruption. These niche markets offer entrepreneurs big opportunities because the old industries are relying on solutions from decades ago. This session will cover the disruptive opportunity the leaders saw by combining sensors, wireless technology and software for innovative offerings.

3:35PM-4:05PM
Driving Trusted Sensing Solutions for a Connected World
Michelle Kelsey / Motion Sensors Product Line Manager / NXP
Hear how NXP, as a global technology leader, is innovating across a broad set of technologies to bring full system solutions for sensing applications. Each contributing technology including MEMS, Radar, Connectivity, Computing and Software Algorithms (i.e. Anomaly detection) is explored across dynamic market requirements and trends.

4:30PM-6:00PM
Women in Sensors Engineering Program
Get inspired by female engineers involved in sensors and raise awareness of the contributions they make to the sensors community! This year's Program will feature an exciting and engaging Panel Discussion followed by a Networking Cocktail Reception on the Expo Floor!
