The number of always-on, voice control devices is rapidly increasing while the size and power requirements for these devices is simultaneously decreasing. This session reviews the challenges of integrating voice-first technology into small, battery-operated devices and compares the power and data-efficiency of today’s digital and cloud-based solutions with new analog edge-sensing solutions for voice activity detection.
